Membership

    To become a member of this congregation, one must be a follower of Jesus Christ and willing to actively participate in the worship and ministry of our church. When needed, Pastor Karen Green conducts and inquires a new member class for those interested in learning more about membership. Those who decide to join, then meet with the Session and make a public affirmation of faith during a worship service.

    We are a family of Christian believers, a small church of about 90 members. Our church is governed by a Session, made up of nine Elders. We also have a very active Board of Deacons with nine members. We are part of the Hudson River Presbytery, the Synod of the Northeast, and The Presbyterian Church USA. Session members chair committees that help direct the activities of the church. These committees are :

Spiritual Life oversees the following: Orders of Worship, Worship Material, Music Ministry as needed, Greeter, Ushers, Sunday School, Youth Group, and Vacation Bible School. Special attention is given by this committee for the Christian Calendar year. (i.e. Advent, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Holy Week, Pentecost, and World Wide Communion Sunday.)

Buildings and Grounds oversees care and maintenance of the building, necessary repairs, helps repair those items that they can, oversees building and equipment use and bring recommendations to Session.

Mission and Finance oversees all church dinners and fund raisers, the Bottle Fund, stewardship programs, mission and funding for the church and financial audits.

Personnel oversees all church employees and Chester Presbyterian Nursery School employees, conducts and oversees all employees' annual and financial reviews.

Outreach and Member Care oversees newsletter, church mailboxes, health equipment, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Blood Drive, informs Session concerning membership lists, supervises welcome cards, sends "miss you" cards, and arranges fellowship events.

Nominating Committee meets as needed to bring a slate of church officers to the congregation for their vote.
